A listening bar for vinyl and chess, not screens
No TVs, no scrolling. Pigeon hands you a record sleeve and a chessboard instead, and lets the room stay quiet enough to actually talk. It's the anti-sports-bar on a Cap Hill strip full of them.
Toad Kitchen shares the space, running a Japanese-leaning menu alongside the cocktails. From the team behind PonPon, Pigeon bets that doing less, no screens, no noise, is what makes people stay.

What a fun little spot! Absolutely loved throwing down on some chest, and the vibe was chill, but energetic

Great vibe. The chess thing is unique. When I visited (June 2026) the playlist was just ominous instrumentals which was a bit odd but the ambiance was great. Also cool that they had unique Japanese food options (albeit a bit pricey). Didn't eat anything. Just had some beers and played chess which was a good time.

PIGEON is incredible! I stopped in just to check out the vibe and ended up spending over an hour there, just listening to deep cut hifi and sipping some custom mocktails. First, the drinks are artwork - beautiful! And they taste even better than they look, lots of attention given to the experience -- and I'm just drinking the non-alcoholic options! Dining area is shared with TOAD, and features several underlit chess tables (borrow pieces at the bar). The aesthetic is very high-concept, minimalist and bold. A little brutalist, a little jazz club, and entirely tasteful. I've heard that Sundays feature competitive chess for all skill levels. The sound system is quite good, which is really nice. Great to have a listening bar right here on Cap Hill. Fairly diverse genres, lots of under-played B-Side pearls on offer.

We've been waiting on this place to open, we live a block down and love this little addition to the neighborhood!

I saw a story in the Denver Post about this place. They said it was an analog place in a digital world where they played records while you had a drink. It sounded cool so I gave it a try. It completely exceeded my expectations. Celeste was a great bartender, the drinks were excellent, and the atmosphere was tremendous. They were indeed playing records and cassette tapes, and told me they will have a DJ on a regular basis. The food from their in house restaurant, Toad Kitchen, was also fantastic. I highly recommend Pigeon and will definitely be back again.
