Cocktails and late food in Cosimo Matassa's old studio

748 Camp Street was Cosimo Matassa's Jazz City studio, where Allen Toussaint and the Meters recorded. Neighborhood Restaurant Group, the D.C. company behind Devil Moon BBQ and Brewery Saint X, opened Junebug in the building in spring 2025.

Pitmaster Shannon Bingham stepped away from the smoker to cook blue crab gratin and foie gras mousse with banana bread. Cocktails come full strength or with a lighter lift, and the soundtrack sticks to the early and mid seventies.

Overall, it was a vey enjoyable experience!!! Food was good, especially the Meatballs starter! I had a Rum punch,made by the bartender Ricardo, it was amazing, the best I have ever had!!! My server Shaniya was super sweet, and did a very good job with taking care of me! There was a manager who also assisted with my table, she was also very sweet, down to earth, and attentive, I can’t remember her name, but it was a pretty white lady, her name I think started with a C!!! They Venue is really goodlookin, cool vibe, Will definitely go back!!!

Great music, posh decor and environs, and an equally good food & Bev program to match. Highly recommend the crab fat popcorn, and their beef tallow fries are killer, too. If they have the frozen Ramos gin fizz on menu that’s a must have, as well.

JuneBug Restaurant has a speak easy vibe and exceeded every expectation for my daughter's wedding dinner. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for with hospitality that went far above and beyond. Every detail was handled with professionalism, warmth, and kindness, which made the entire evening even more special. Zahara Dimassi and the staff were attentive to our every need and detail. The food was absolutely top tier — beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and perfectly presented. Every guest at the wedding dinner was impressed by the quality and taste of the meal. It’s clear that JuneBug takes tremendous pride in both their cuisine and customer experience. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate such an important occasion. Highly recommend JuneBug to anyone looking for exceptional food, outstanding service, and an unforgettable dining experience.

Beautiful restaurant and bar with a vibrant atmosphere, loved the music! The bartenders were great along with our cocktails. The appetizers we ordered were delicious, we will be back again for more!
