Bar Ilu opened on East Dauphin Street in May 2026, built on a Madrid template: very cold martinis, Spanish reds, croquetas, empanadas and a manchego-topped burger.
It serves well past midnight most nights, which is the useful part in Kensington. The Infatuation put it on the Hit List.

We live in the neighborhood. So happy to have this place. Hope it succeeds. Seems to be popular and busy. The interior design is great: modern and cozy. We went for the first time July 3, 2026 for drinks and tapas. Both excellent. We had the shrimp in hot chilly oil, the artichoke, gazpacho, cod fritters and cocktails. All excellent. Was a home run. There’s lots of bars in the neighborhood but nothing like this place.

Best addition to the neighborhood. Incredible drinks, amazing food (even late night) and wonderful staff. All for a very reasonable price!! Been here more times than I care to admit since they’ve opened and I’ve never had a bad experience.

i'm still shocked this used to be the old philadelphia. great food, the menu is very interesting! lovely staff and a great bar program. cute bathrooms too !

Great service and amazing food. The burger was juicy and flavorful! The mushroom dish was hearty and tasty. The bar team was super helpful in instructing us about the range of sherry on the menu. Fabulous addition to the neighborhood!!
