Bardo

Coffee, chocolate and dinner, straight from Punta del Este
Bardo built a following in Punta del Este before landing in Punta Carretas, and the menu still shows that dual identity. Specialty coffee and chocolate sit next to a full lunch and dinner service, not a café that happens to serve food.
Lunch runs Tuesday to Sunday, dinner Tuesday to Saturday. A separate take-away counter handles milanesas and burgers on their own menu. Grab a sidewalk table once the weather turns, they fill first.

We had such a wonderful experience at Bardo. The restaurant is in a beautiful old house that feels both elegant and cozy—warm, intimate, and very inviting. Matías, the owner, made us feel especially welcome and was so gracious and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious. We loved the pea soup, the ravioli with two stuffings, and the large anchovy fillet. Everything was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. There is something very special about Bardo—the setting, the food, and especially the genuine hospitality. It feels like a place with heart and personality, not just another restaurant. We loved our lunch and would happily return. Bardo is a real gem in Montevideo!

An excellent experience, I highly recommend all the small plates and desserts, particularly the basque cheesecake. The staff were very friendly and attentive, despite our language barrier took the time to talk personally with us. If in Montevideo again, I will certainly be returning.
