Solar-powered coffee on Port Vila's seafront, by Saralana Park

Tanna island beans, ground and pulled into coffee at a cafe that runs entirely on solar power. Nambawan sits right on Port Vila's seafront next to Saralana Park and the dive and helicopter tour booths, pouring coffee alongside pizza, juices and smoothies all day.

Footage from inside the cafe during the December 2024 earthquake, staff and customers running for safety, spread online. It reopened with the rest of the seafront strip under the same #PortVilaRecovery tag the town used.

Good to know

  • Solar-powered, one of the few cafes in town that markets this directly.
  • Sits next to Vanuatu Helicopters and Big Blue Dive's tour desks, useful if you're booking an excursion.

Enjoyed the butter curry chicken! Good flavor, quick service, even for our big group. Staff was super friendly too

Nice simple cafe on the water we stopped at for a coffee and snack. Some cool markets next door to it which was good for a quick look around a buy some gifts. Staff at the cafe were really kind and helpful

One of the better places to have a meal in the morning with the sun behind you. Must try dish is the vegetable pie. Comes with a salad and it’s delicious. Another interesting item is the poached eggs on toast with beans. Very English and yummy

The cafe is reasonably busy and has lovely water views. The food is ok, although massively overpriced for what it is, but that seems to be the general way in Port Vila. I can live with that, but don’t try to scam me. Ordered a freshly squeezed orange juice for my child, paid $7 for a glass, and I watched with my own eyes the lady preparing the drinks pour a glass full of carton juice and deliver it to our table. Obviously that tasted nothing like the real orange juice, so was just a waste.
