La Toldilla

Soup, not pastry, is the reason to sit down here
Most cafés push pastry or sandwiches. La Toldilla builds its whole menu around soup, the kind of dish that turns a rainy Caracas afternoon into an excuse to linger over the regular coffee list too.
The full name nods to restaurante universitario, the campus-canteen tradition, but dressed up as a café rather than a cafeteria line. It's open weekend mornings too, a rarity for a spot this specific.

The place is nice, and while wheelchair access is limited, the price is high for the quantity and quality of the food. The soup is good, but the side dishes are small, and the drinks are expensive. Overall, the price isn't great.

The soup was excellent, in my opinion. They have a space perfectly suited for it; the only issue is the long wait, which I noticed is just a matter of a little organization. Perhaps they need more tables, as there are enough, and they would obviously need more staff to add more tables. As I said, the food was very good, and they go out of their way to serve the customers.
