Coffee bar by day, book-ahead vinyl room by night
Mingus runs two lives out of one room in Chacao. By day it's specialty coffee, pastry and desserts. Once the sun drops, it turns into a reservation-only listening bar built around a serious sound system and vinyl, not a DJ booth, a format still rare in Caracas.
Named for the jazz bassist, the place leans into the reference hard, the café light dimming into a small, quiet room made for records.

It's a very nice place, the coffee is delicious, you can find options from $3.50. I liked the vinyl record concept, it gives it a different atmosphere, however, at peak times the place becomes too small and the service can also be a bit overwhelming.

I came with my son for a coffee and we were delighted with the place. The friendliness, the service, and the rich aroma of the coffee charmed us. We ordered a Katsutera, a kind of small cake that wasn't too sweet but was excellent to accompany that delicious coffee. The only thing they need is a little more space, but they told me they're already working on it.

I really liked the place and the atmosphere, however, I think charging $3 for a beer is very expensive đ especially in such a small, alternative venue. There were also very few chairs, so we were quite uncomfortable. I wouldn't recommend going with large groups. However, I did like the concept and the music.

Although small, it was very harmonious, aesthetically pleasing, and had a pleasant atmosphere. The manager or owner was very friendly. Unfortunately, the staff's service was poor; there were only two tables to attend to when we were there, and the service was very bad.

April 5th, 2026 / Today I went to check out this new spot, a hidden gem, small but with good music, a pleasant atmosphere, the coffee â was good, single-origin coffee (I don't remember which part of Venezuela) and the pistachio pastry đ„ was delicious. If you want to spend an afternoon, this place is great. Come visit it. We'll be back.
