A real garden bistro in Murambi, with a second spot up in the Vumba

Hivu Bistro sits inside the Hivu Hive in Murambi, built into an actual garden rather than dressed up with a few potted plants. Reviewers keep coming back to the prawn pasta, but the setting does its own work: tables among the greenery, a kids' play area off to the side.

In June 2026 the owners opened a second branch at Hivu Nursery in Hycroft, up in the Vumba mountains, running the same concept somewhere more remote. The Murambi original stays open Tuesday through Sunday, 10am to 9pm, and throws the occasional sip-and-paint evening for anyone who wants to linger past dinner.
