Katsuya Beach, Hecho Libre and a private island, all under one new flag

This is the debut hotel for HQ Hotels & Residences, Sam Nazarian's new brand, with Marc Anthony as an investor and Wyndham on board as an alliance partner. The building and its 79 suites, penthouses and villas across eight acres of Antigua's north shore didn't change. The operator and the food did.

Katsuya Uechi runs Katsuya Beach, Wes Avila runs Hecho Libre, and XIV Beach Club brings a Los Angeles day club format to the sand. A boat still runs guests out to the private beach club on Prickly Pear Island. Airport to lobby takes about five minutes.

Good to know

• The beach club is on Prickly Pear Island, a short boat ride offshore, guests get the transfer, so build a day around it.
• Katsuya Beach and Hecho Libre both take outside bookings if you are staying elsewhere on the north coast.
