Thai cafe by day, record bar by night

Tucked in a cul-de-sac off Wickham Street, this place runs coffee and Thai food in the morning, then flips into a bar once the sun drops. Same room, same crate of records spinning the whole time.

The music is not filler here, it is the point. Fortitude Valley station is three minutes away, so there is no excuse not to swing by after work.

Hands done the best brunch restaurant in the Valley! Authentic Thai flavours that can be a little too spicy for me (yes I am very white)- however I persevere as the flavours are so good. We’ve been 3 times in 6 weeks since first discovering So What! Parking can be challenging at peak times but it’s worth the walk from surrounding streets (Barry Parade has never failed me for parking). We’ve been lucky to never had to wait for a table, but I imagine the wait could be up to 30 minutes at peak times. The retro atmosphere is perfect with the vinyl playing in the background. This is a must do bunch for all.

I’ve visited this restaurant numerous times, and it never fails to impress me with the consistent quality of its food. My absolute favourites are the beef boat noodles and the dried tom yum noodles. The beef is always incredibly juicy, and the flavours are rich and perfectly balanced every single time. It’s rare to find a place that maintains such consistency with both taste and quality, but this restaurant truly delivers on every visit. On top of that, the stylish decor creates a welcoming and enjoyable dining atmosphere. Definitely a spot I keep coming back to!

So glad we dined here for breakfast, We got the Boat noodle with pork and thin noodle, Kai Kon with Changmai sausage, and garlic chive cakes. All were super delicious, good portions, staff super lovely and restaurant so nice and cosy with records playing. Pandan latte also delicious. Thankyou!

Ordered an ice matcha latte. It was good - quite earthy flavour l, not too sweet and with slightly astringent after taste. I’m not sure on supplier or matcha brand. You can order small or large size. The rest of the drinks menu looks interesting and I can’t wait to come back and try some traditional Thai food !

A great place to begin your morning! Must must try their pandan latte IT WAS AMAZING. And their food as well, I ordered a beef rice with omelette, beef very tender and the sauce is a highlight! :) and I thought I must try their pour over and I’m glad I did. Definitely will come back ❣️
