Tyga

The Carnegie menu Melbourne food critics are chasing

Koornang Road is one of Melbourne's better eating strips and almost nobody outside the south-east knows it. Tyga is the reason to finally find out, a short, fast-moving menu that landed it on Broadsheet's list of the year's best new restaurants within months of opening.

Carnegie station sits right at the top of the road, so there's no excuse. Go on a weeknight and you'll get a seat without booking ahead.

Had such a good dinner at TYGA. Really nice atmosphere, great for dinner with friends and a few glasses of wine. The kangaroo was my favourite. Really tender and so good wrapped with the fresh leaves and pickles. The bone marrow was another standout 😭 We also loved the kaya toast, and dessert was such a nice way to finish. Everything we ordered was genuinely good. Definitely a spot I’d come back to.

We visited this place for the first time in Dec’25 because of the interesting interior, so we decided to give it a go, and everything was perfect, especially the bone marrow (my personal favourite). It was an incredible experience. The food, the ambience, and the service itself. Can’t wait to go back and try another dish!

Tyga is a fantastic spot for modern Asian fusion cuisine. The food was beautifully plated, packed with flavour, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. Great service, lovely atmosphere, and excellent attention to detail. Definitely one of the best dining experiences I’ve had recently. Will be back again!

Very cool spot with cool retro mid century styling and great lighting. Be sure to book your table ahead of time as they are popular!!! It’s a bit loud but the DJ spinning records is a great vibe and the food was phenomenal, our favourite was definitely the duck! the nasi lemak tartare was such a fantastic twist on regular tartare and the chirashi special was such a great addition!!! If you like red wine the Grenache is also phenomenal, shoutout to who I feel was the manager on this evening (I think his name was Yaz?) who had the friendliest demeanour and best customer I’ve experienced in a long time! Extra impressive when the venue is pumping as much as Tyga was tonight (and is most nights!) We will definitely be back, on empty stomachs next time to have more of that duck and try the Tom yum burrata!! We have since been back ! Second visit just as good as the first, great service and amazing food !!!

Ambiance and service were great! The food was decent with a few hits and misses. Highly recommend the nasi lemak! The tom yum burrata was yum and creamy but needs a bit more tom yum flavour. The kingfish larb and the scallop crudo were probably our least favourite since the flavour and style seem like an acquired taste. Probably one of the nicer restaurants where the mains are actually quite good. The gai yang and the crab noodles were packed with flavour. I would come back on a weekday to avoid busy periods and the surcharges as it could affect the service and affordability.
