Front Office

★ 5.0 · 8 reviews Melbourne Opened 2025

Menswear built from 80s and 90s workwear, cut boxier than the photos show

Front Office started online before Ken Sakata opened this Smith Street shop, and it still doubles as his working studio. The clothes pull utility shapes and clean tailoring out of 1980s and 90s workwear, in Japanese fabrics with almost no branding.

Hours lean toward weekends since Sakata uses the space to work during the week. Go in person anyway. The fit runs boxier than the online photos suggest, and that's not something you catch from a screen.

Good to know

  • Public opening hours are weekends - weekdays the space runs as the studio.
  • The archive rail carries past-season pieces that never went online.

Great spot letting you try on and purchase their clothing. Ken and his staff were a great help with sizing/fit, and were keen to explain the design process behind each item.
