Farm-to-table Bajan cooking inside Andromeda Botanic Gardens
Eastside Kitchen runs Bajan dishes around whatever's fresh that day, fish, octopus, chicken, vegetables sourced close to home, out of Andromeda Botanic Gardens in Foster Hall. Dwayne Adamson runs the kitchen with his wife, artist Joanne Reed, and eating inside the garden makes lunch feel like a garden outing.
The kitchen also handles takeaway and catering across Bathsheba, and the breadfruit chips alone have pulled in a following that has nothing to do with the garden next door.
Good to know
- Try the breadfruit chips.
- Pair it with a walk through Andromeda Botanic Gardens next door.

Dwayne, who is the creative force at Eastside, serves up some amazing food. We ate here twice in a week because it was so good. Dwayne sources locally and learned his craft from his grandmother. Cocktails were all excellent and we especially loved his mint-basil mojito. Try the breadfruit chips. Had Flying fish, fish cakes, lobster linguini, grilled octopus, & parrot fish. Delicious. We had the banana cake with passion fruit sauce twice. We ate and then strolled the gardens. Eastside was a highlight of our Barbados trip. We are definitely returning!!!

Barracuda catch of the day was fantastic. Perfectly blackened with that crispy outside and warm, tender, juicy fish inside. Tried the breadfruit fries for the first time and they were amazing too! Reminded me of yucca fries back in Latin America. Also had the tropical fruit smoothie, which was delicious and a perfect refreshing treat after seeing the gardens. Friendly server and kitchen team as well. Wish it was closer to my airbnb because I’d eat here every day if I could.

Came here after reading the great reviews and it definitely lived up to expectations. Some of the best veggie food I’ve been able to find on the island (black bean wrap). Everything very well seasoned and made to order.

We stopped by for lunch after seeing all the rave reviews, hoping for a water view, but honestly, we couldn't resist what we were sure would be an amazing meal. And let me tell you, it was 100% worth it! After spending 7 days on the island, this was hands down our favorite meal. Every dish was homemade with top-notch ingredients, passion, and love. This place is special—don't let the lack of ocean view stop you from checking it out! The chef and staff were incredibly attentive and made us feel right at home. With so many menu options to choose from, we were in food heaven. The mojitos? Out of this world. The watermelon juice? Pure refreshment. While we waited for our food, we had a little wildlife entertainment, with birds visiting us on the handrail—so fun! The catch of the day with pesto linguine was easily the best pesto we’ve ever had—definitely a must-try! We also devoured a spread of black bean and chicken flatbreads, which kept our whole crew satisfied. The breadfruit was a delicious first for us, and we pretty much licked our plates clean! For dessert, we indulged in vegan chocolate/banana/date ice cream, golden apple ice cream, and mango cheesecake. And that cheesecake? We all agreed it was the best we've ever had. Long story short: don’t miss out on this gem—get to this spot and enjoy an unforgettable meal!

Located at Andromeda Botanic Gardens, this establishment, to my discerning palate, surpasses all others in Barbados. While the daily catch, and the cassava fries, seasoned with an intriguing blend of spices, are certainly not to be overlooked, it is the local octopus that demands one's immediate attention. Indeed, to ignore this culinary marvel would be a most unfortunate oversight.
