Recycled wool workwear, first shop east of the Rockies

ANIÁN turns reclaimed wool back into melton fabric and sews it into workwear in Canada. The Victoria, BC brand had never sold outside its home province until it opened a Calgary unit on 17th Avenue SW in July 2025. It had flagged the plan itself months earlier.

Seventeenth Avenue is Calgary's main independent retail street, known locally as the Red Mile. Jackets, shirts and bags fill the racks. All of it is cut for cold, not for a photo.

Good to know

  • The recycled-wool melton pieces are the brand's signature, made from reclaimed offcuts.
  • Unit 109 is set back in the building; look for the eagle.

Very cool store of Canadian made recycled fabrics. A real gem of a company that I am grateful to support. Bought a wool jacket last winter that has since become a staple in my closet.

Anian is what all clothing stores need to become. They have been paving the way for true cyclical fashion. They use recycled materials that minimize waste and pollution and make beautiful, practical, quality items. They are expensive, but you need to invest in quality. You'll have them for life if you wish. They store is great, happy to have it in Calgary!

We love the Anian products. The Melton Wool performance is outstanding, and also stylish. This is slow fashion quality at its finest. One piece of feedback would be the lack of customer service at this location. We have been there many times, only to be entirely ignored by all staff. No greeting, no inquiry to help while browsing, no service in the changing rooms. It’s surprising, given the brand's important materials-sourcing story, and it seems like a missed opportunity for a Canadian brand.

Excellent quality garments, wool and other. I have purchased many of these items online. The woollens are top drawer products, very durable. I visited the Calgary store on opening day in June. The ladies on shift were very professional. Good stock of numerous items. I came away with a new summer shirt... Very highly recommended.

The staff was polite and even told off some loitering teenagers smoking out front. There's a bus stop into the city centre right outside so that's nice. Maybe it was me but the staff seemed too shy. Would definitely return though for how professional and polished the experience was.
