Sixth-best new restaurant in Canada, four nights a week

Mystic sits beneath the Rise Again Stairs on the Halifax waterfront and cooks almost entirely from Nova Scotia ingredients, seasonal enough that the menu genuinely changes rather than just reprinting with new prices. It placed sixth on Canada's 100 Best list of new restaurants for 2025.

Doors open Wednesday to Saturday, from 5pm only. That is four services for the whole city, so booking well ahead is not optional.

I wanted to treat my sister who was visiting from Europe, and Mystic was a great fit! We opted for the 8 course tasting menu, and it definitely hit the spot. The food was otherworldly yet delicious, and each dish was a feast for the eyes and palate (the pics speak for themselves). My sister also used sommelier to get her wine matched, and that definitely added to the already elevated experience. Set aside at least two hours and a half to really relish the food, drink and company. The service was fantastic- Mallorie had just the twinkle in the eye and the spring in her step to handle two somewhat tipsy and chatty Europeans. The interior is a clever homage to Nova Scotia as well as the foraging skills of the chef. Bravo!

We went here on our honeymoon and had the best experience! The staff were personable and crazy efficient, the food was impeccable (I had the best pasta of my life with the lobster pasta on the tasting menu), and the building was gorgeous. Watching the sunset over the harbour as we were served course after beautiful course by friendly and professional staff was an ideal experience.

Each aspect of this experience is wonderful. The setting is spectacular, the food is devine, the wine pairings spot on and the service is impeccable. This is much more than just a meal - the atmosphere and accoutrements are amazing. We were thrilled by the stemware and dishware. It set off the wine & food perfectly. Each dish was expertly explained by a staff member and the pace of the evening was perfect. The way the local ingredients were incorporated and elevated allowed the East Coast to shine! Amazing!

This spot is 5 star all the way, Service,food mind blowing experience. Each course carefully thought out to flow into the next,each wine perfectly paired to tantalizing the taste buds with each sip. What an absolutely amazing experience!! Being no stranger to Michelin-starred restaurants, Mystic easily plays in that league. Service was impeccable, each dish was a small piece of art with every bite an explosion of flavour leaving you salivating for more and the wine pairings were exceptionally well chosen. Pricing is more than fair for the quality delivered.
