A tasting room for comparing coffee lots side by side

Prototype set up its East Hastings location as a tasting room rather than a standard shop. The hours are built around cupping, not commuters.

This is Prototype's second Vancouver café, open from 8 and closed by 3. It's one of the few places in the city where you can taste several lots side by side.

Funky, dimly lit café with unconventional angles. The rich aroma of roasting beans was key to the experience. Absolutely exquisite latté art (a swan). Really nuanced taste to the flat white. Love the variously flavored waffles. Very congenial team behind the bar. Officially one of my two faves in Vancouver (along with Hiyori Coffee).

Wow best pour over I’ve ever had with a huge selection to choose from. Barista recommended one with notes of blueberry and other fruity flavors, which was amazing. Cute shop. Who doesn’t love a good mirror selfie

A place for people that know coffee. Lots of different roasters going on in the back. They offer a good variety of beans and the beverage menu has something for everyone, even for people that just want a flavored drink like a vanilla latte. I tried the espresso set which offers beans of one coffee type server two ways: one as a straight espresso shot and the other served with steamed milk.

This is the best coffee in Vancouver. I’ve been drinking their coffee for 6 years now. I keep trying other places and there are some that are occasionally nearly as good but… If you want choice, expertise and very high quality freshly roasted coffee (especially espresso) there is only one place. This is it.

The service is next level. The coffee is superb. They take coffee seriously and are masters in their craft. Was blown away and felt so welcomed by the friendly team. And cmon look at my latte art!!!
