A Tarantino-themed cocktail bar on Dežmanova

Jackie Brown took over the old Velvet café space on Dežmanova in 2025, run by the team behind The Secret Club and Narcissus bar. The interior riffs on Quentin Tarantino's films instead of the usual speakeasy look.

Doors open daily at 5pm and stay open until 2am on weekends. Book ahead: word about the design spread fast.

The place is incredibly dark; all the lights are out, and you have to use your phone's flashlight to see the menu. The bartender doesn't explain anything, and the menu is in Croatian, so you can't understand the ingredients. The cocktails are served without any flavoring, and the taste is poor. Plus, smoking is allowed inside, and you leave smelling strongly of tobacco.

The best thing we witnessed and were present at in Zagreb. From the moment we arrived at the cocktail bar, the waiter/bartender Antonio provided us with excellent service. At the very beginning we were given a glass of water without asking. He gave us a cocktail menu with a Tarantino theme and the atmosphere is exactly what you would expect. Every cocktail is exactly what you can imagine. Every cocktail with its own note. The music was absolutely perfect and Antonio mixed us cocktails “as a surprise”. 10/10 would go again!!
