A corner espresso bar with nowhere to hide the coffee
Essko runs a tight menu and no food to speak of, which is exactly the point. Every drink gets the same attention, and there's nothing to distract from it.
It sits right on the corner of Tyršova and Mlýnská, one of a wave of small-format coffee counters that landed in central Ostrava in early 2024. Order at the bar and drink it standing if the stools are taken.

Great and nice cafe, wide selection of beans. The only thing I have to take a star down for is the temperature of the coffee. Any coffee with milk was always lukewarm... which I was really sorry about, because I really like the coffee here.

A very cozy espresso bar with a top selection of beans for purchase; they have their own brand of beans, 101 Roastery, in their grinder. I ordered a cappuccino, and it was superb in both taste and presentation. They also have a good selection of specialty coffee magazines to read on-site. A very pleasant place, minimally and tastefully decorated, and the coffee equipment (machine and grinder) is also top-notch.
