Rafael Nadal's Zel brand lands on Playa Bávaro, all suites

Zel is the hotel brand Rafael Nadal built with Meliá, and this is the first one outside the Mediterranean. Every room is a suite, done up in white and pale wood, with food that leans Spanish over Caribbean.

The daily schedule is built around movement, not poolside games. Next door, the Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre runs clinics and court bookings Zel guests can slot straight into, a Balearic idea transplanted onto a Dominican beach.

Good to know

• Guests can book court time and clinics at the Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre in the neighbouring Meliá complex.
• Nadal himself came out for the formal inauguration in March 2025, a year after the resort started taking guests.
