Grab a terrace seat when the afternoon sun hits Raekoja plats and order for the middle of the table. Chicote's menu wanders the Mediterranean without settling on one country: grilled fish, cured meats, vegetable plates built to split three or four ways.

The room stays low-lit and intimate despite the grand address facing the town hall. Best part: the kitchen runs past midnight Thursday to Saturday, long after most of Old Town has shut for the night.

Great place. We had some hamon and cheese with a bottle of wine. Super nice service, quality food and cozy atmosphere.

We are on a mother daughter trip to Tartu from London and on our first night here we stumbled across Chicote restaurant on the main sqaure/boulevard when I was craving a great steak for dinner. We are both very much into special culinary experiences and this blew our minds in every point of the evening. Starting with the superb kind and personable manner of Erik our waiter, he recommended exactly what we didn't yet know we needed to try! The steak tartar was the best I've ever tried super fresh and unique with homemade truffle mayo included in the dish, also the king prawns were flawless. The flank steak is stunning with prefect sides and a creamy green peppercorn sauce, really good to share a few dishes between two people. Then the 2 litre jug of red sangria made and served by the main bartender Karl, was the best sangria we've had in our lives. He even told us the secret ingredients but you'll have to come here to find out.

Absolutely amazing food, would not change a thing. Every dish was complimentary to the next one. We were lucky to have a chef&sommelier as our waiter.

Nice new place in the heart of Tartu with a nice concept of shared dishes, good quality ingredients and cocktails for the usual price in this city.
