Bächle Keller opened on 20 March 2026 in the cellar rooms on Bertoldstraße that held the Othello-Bar for years, right by the Stadttheater. The brick vaults are still there, just with a longer drinks list behind the bar.

Weekend nights fill up fast, so book ahead if you want a seat past midnight since reservations run well into the small hours.

It's so awesome that there's finally a place like this in Freiburg ❤️ They don't serve food (which is what you're supposed to review here), but I'll do it for the drinks: Really fair prices (which you can't say about comparable places) and a great atmosphere with cool people… every single time!

Good music, good drinks, friendly staff, and affordable. You can dance and borrow games. There's also a foosball table and a dartboard. Great place. All in all, highly recommended.

We spent several evenings here around the cup final and had drinks afterwards. Drinks are really reasonably priced, and the service is very friendly. We can highly recommend it :)
