The tacos here come from a family recipe book, not a cookbook. A Berlin restaurateur with Indian roots cooks his mother's Mexican dishes in a small dining room near the Alter Hafen, alongside quesadillas and a short cocktail list.

The mix of backgrounds shows on the menu, which skips the fixed idea of what a Mexican restaurant should look like. Good stop for a short detour before or after a walk along the harbor.

My wife and I called in without a reservation and was immediately directed to a nice table by the window. There was 2 lovely young ladies attending to us, Satti and Gagn and they were both very pleasant, attentive and efficient. Onto the food. I had a beef burrito and my wife had a prawn and a duck taco. I have to say, we've had Mexican food in Mexico and this was right up there with the best we've had. The place is very clean and definitely has a Mexican kind of decor. The only reason I gave 4 stars for atmosphere was because it was early and quiet. We both really enjoyed our meals, and the service was very special. Highly recommend this place, superb.

Maya Mexicana offers amazing food with great taste and high-quality ingredients. good Mexican food in wismar. The atmosphere is lovely,staff is super friendly and attentive. Also, I got birthday surprise from maya restaurant. HIGHLY RECOMMEND !
