Furniture and gifts made from discarded olive leaves

Everything on the shelves at Liofyllo starts as olive-leaf biomass, the stuff normally burned or dumped after pruning. Alexandra Makrygeorgou spent roughly eight years turning it into a usable composite before opening this shop at Filopoimenos 36, and the objects (household pieces, awards, corporate gifts) are the payoff.

The room stays plain on purpose, white walls, no styling tricks, so the material does the talking. Liofyllo runs as a social cooperative rather than a straight retail business, and it feels built for browsing slowly rather than buying fast. Patras has nothing else quite like it.

Good to know

• Ask them to explain the material, the leaf composite is the whole point of the shop.
• They do corporate gifts and awards to order, not just the pieces on the shelf.
