Santorini's cult bookshop, now perched above Firostefani

Crooked, hand-built shelves packed with new, secondhand and collectible titles in half a dozen languages, in a room the founders rebuilt from scratch. Two friends started the shop in 2004 after a holiday convinced them the island needed a bookstore, and it's landed on more than one list of the world's most beautiful.

It spent two decades tucked below Oia's main street before the 2024 move to Firostefani, at the base of the Nomikos Cultural Centre. Winter hours run roughly noon until sunset.

A must visit when in Santorini. An incredible story behind this bookstore that you have to read in person. Amazing library/selection of books they have here, very well curated. The design of the store itself is also really nice, we found ourselves back here every day! Friendly dogs too.

Amazing collection of books and maps, and of old books in great condition. The owners were brilliant, passionate, and so sincere. Not a tourist trap - a genuinely delightful bookstore!

What a lovely bookstore! The shop had such a great selection (and some fantastic rare finds) & was so fun to browse around! A highlight of the trip & a great place to get a meaningful souvenir.
