Fakapu Pince és Panzió

Wine cellar, bistro and beds, all on Rákóczi út
Fakapu sits right on Rákóczi út in the old center of Tokaj, pairing a wine cellar with a bistro and a few rooms upstairs. Taste the local wines below, eat something Hungarian, then just head up to bed if the evening runs long.
The cellar sticks close to the region's own wines, and the kitchen keeps to traditional dishes rather than reinventing them. It's an easy base for walking the rest of town.

I visited Fakapu with a group of six people. At first, everything seemed fine — the waiter quickly showed us to our table. Unfortunately, things went downhill after that. We waited around 15–20 minutes before anyone came to take our order. The menu had quite a large selection of pizzas, so we chose a few of them. Then the waiter informed us that… there was no pizza available at all. It’s hard to understand why they keep an entire page of pizzas in the menu if none of them can actually be ordered. I then decided to order the Papkin Soup, but I was told that it was also unavailable because it was a seasonal dish. Overall, we got the impression that we were given a completely outdated menu and expected to choose dishes that the restaurant simply does not serve anymore. So the question is — why does the staff hand out menus that are no longer valid?

We were advised to try this restaurant by Peter from Himesudvar winery, I'm glad we took the recommendation. Thank you Peter. The location right in the centre of town allows you to walk around this small town taking in the atmosphere, the food was really good far better than I was expecting after seeing some of the local eating establishments. We were offered seating outside, however as it started to drop cold we decided to take a seat inside the restaurant. The food was really good the cream of strawberry soup was really refreshing, crispy goose leg with red cabbage and rustic roast potato worked really well and the flavours were well balanced. Mangalitsa Pork steak that was thick and grilled to perfection with potato dumplings and sour cream. Served with local wines, and amazing meal at a really competitive price. Only slight issue was a problem with the bill at the end and overcharged by an extra main course, however when mentioned was obviously a simple mistake. Highly recommended 👌

We visited Fakapu Pince és Panzió during our trip and it was a truly great experience. The dinner was delicious – homemade, well-prepared, and served with care. The local wine we had with the meal was excellent and really added to the atmosphere. The place itself is cozy and charming, with a warm winery feel and friendly staff who made us feel very welcome. Everything was relaxed and pleasant. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful spot to enjoy a tasty meal and a glass of quality local wine in the beautiful Tokaj region.
