Wine tastings inside a Renaissance hunting lodge

Hímesudvar pours out of one of Tokaj's oldest buildings, a Renaissance hunting lodge on Bem József utca with barrel-vaulted cellars still underneath. The family runs it as a working winery, making the full Tokaji range from bone-dry Furmint to the sweet Aszú the region built its name on.

It's open daily for cellar visits and tastings, no booking required in a town where most good cellars want one. Just a short climb up from the main street gets you to the door.

We had an absolutely wonderful time celebrating my father’s birthday at Himesudvar! From the second we walked in, the staff welcomed us warmly and gave everyone the exact same genuine, attentive care. We chose the "Birtoklátogatás" package and loved how the day was structured. We started right in the main house with the wine tasting. The food platter served with it was fantastic, the mozzarella and dried tomatoes were great, but the little cheese wrapped in bacon was an absolute standout! After tasting, we got to see the winemaking equipment and where the wine is kept in the same building. Right after that, we had a quick taste of the Eszencia. It honestly feels like rich, melted honey; it's incredibly unique even if you aren't a wine expert. Next, we hopped in the car and drove up the hill to see the vineyards. It felt completely surreal to see endless rows of grapevines everywhere you look, a truly beautiful landscape. We finished back at the shop to buy a few bottles of our absolute favorite from the lineup, the 2025 Sárgamuskotály, which has a beautifully fresh and fruity vibe. Amazing hospitality, a great atmosphere, and delicious wines. Highly recommended!

Everything was great! We especially liked the service — very friendly and welcoming. There is a wide selection of sweet wines, all very enjoyable. We also loved the concept of a family winery, including the trip out to the vineyard — it made the experience feel very authentic. And of course, there is a cat 😃 Highly recommended!

Visited summer of 2025. It was a great experience! They were punctual and very polite. At the winery there were some cats that accompanied our wine-tasting experience, which as a cat-lover, enhanced the experience. (I hope the cuties are still there ;)) The wine they served was superb! With plenty of cheese to go with it. I forgot my camera battery on the way back, which they very kindly sent back to me. The whole experience was memorable and I'd highly recommend visiting!

We love this family winery with a versatile series of local grape varieties from furmint and harsleverlu, to szamorodni and aszu berries, also including 6 puttonyos tokaji in the wine tasting session, which are not usually available even in sizable supermarkets. We also love Foltos, the lovely cat who accompanied us throughout the tasting session! A heart-warming visit with good wines, worth the visit! Hope to revisit in near future!

Great experience of local wine tasting from Tokaj, nice garden, a lot of stuff at the shop, no lunch options just aperitivo
