The Thai House family's secret bar behind Kab Kem

A bar this good shouldn't be this easy to miss. Nai sits in the back room of Kab Kem, walled in wood salvaged from rural Thai houses, and it's where the Kab Kem bartending dynasty gets playful with drinks that stretch their deep repertoire rather than repeat it.

Rumors about this place dripped out for months before it opened. It's a genuinely magical corner, and still easy to walk past without knowing.

After finally finding a free date at Ontopo, we arrived.. The food was excellent by any standard, perfect. We ordered everything that wasn't on the menu 🌶️.. but the portions were small. The service was professional and courteous, but we felt rushed with the dessert menu that was immediately placed on the table - we could have been given a chance to ask for it. Maybe we wanted another drink? The place is small with a low ceiling and a low bar - the chairs at the bar looked disproportionate - like in a kindergarten; The place is seemingly intimate but the lighting is strong and the waiters are running around. As for the trendy DIY speakers.... they sounded unspecific to say the least. The sound is mediocre minus and I apologize, despite the wood that dominates everywhere it sounded cheap and dull. Next time at Kam Kam 🇹🇭🙂
