Pelmeni, borscht and khachapuri on Wasfi Al Tal Street
Amman had no restaurant built entirely around Slavic cooking until Samovar showed up on Wasfi Al Tal Street. Pelmeni dumplings, borscht and Georgian khachapuri fill a menu that used to live only in home kitchens here.
The name comes from the urn Russian households use to keep tea going through a long meal, and brass samovars sit near the entrance. Order the khachapuri boat with a runny egg cracked into the melted cheese, it's the dish regulars post about most.
