Nairobi's Artcaffé opens its first lakeside branch at United Mall.

Artcaffé, the Nairobi bakery-cafe chain, opened its Kisumu branch at United Mall in December 2025. It's the brand's first spot on the lake, after recent expansions into Nakuru and Eldoret pushed Artcaffé well past its original Nairobi base.

The menu matches what built the brand elsewhere: fresh pastries, all-day breakfast, and specialty coffee, served in a bright room full of plants. Kisumu's coffee scene had mostly meant Java House until now. Judging by the opening weekend lines, people were ready for another option.

The place is aesthetically pleasing. It’s really beautiful, clean and elegant. Was there for breakfast today and I truly appreciate the great customer service from Whitney. My partner ordered the everyday breakfast and he really liked it. I had the chicken shawarma and it wasn’t bad. But there’s definitely room for improvement there. The salad and the fries, however, were 10/10. My smoothie was amazing too!

Beyond the wonderful hospitality, the food was delicious—every bite was full of flavor. If you're in Kisumu and looking for great vibes and even better food, this is the place to be. Thank you for the unforgettable birthday surprise!"

Sheila served me. She is doing a phenomenal job at service especially being just opened. Locked in! And a great team behind her.
