Jekyll & Hyde

★ 4.7 · 52 reviews Nairobi Opened 2025

A split-personality cocktail bar hiding above a Westlands barbershop

Jekyll & Hyde is easy to walk past on Waiyaki Way. It sits on the first floor of a plaza that also holds a barbershop and a phone repair stall, with an entrance that gives nothing away. Inside, the name's split personality plays out on the menu, where Kenyan-spirit cocktails sit next to shared plates built to last a few rounds.

The kitchen runs until 11pm and the last drinks pour around half past one. Skip the booking apps: reservations go through WhatsApp, and parking on the plaza's first floor fills fast on weekends.

Love the cocktails and gothic vibe. The art on the walls, perfect. Music such a chill vibe as well. Was a lovely night.

Came right at opening when no one was there yet. Very attentive and knowledgeable staff.

Love the atmosphere and the decor is nice and broody, but not the staff, they are super friendly. The bartenders are always engaging and make fantastic drinks. Only feedback would be to get some mosquito coils or citronella candles, unfortunately every time I’ve been to Jekyll & Hyde I always leave covered in mosquito bites.

This place is a gem. You can choose between classic cocktails or an ever changing menu, and the quality is top level. You can also ask the amazing bartenders Benjamin or Elvis to surprise you, you will not regret it. In termd of food, I personally love the samosas, but there is plenty of vegetarian choices as well. Kudos to the owner, Lele, for creating such a vibrant gem in Nairobi. Totally reccomended!

Amazing bar. Nothing like it in Nairobi. One of the only speakeasys in the country, great cocktails, bartenders who truly have a passion for their craft (special shout out to Benjamin), fun music that is loud but not blasting. Truly couldn’t recommend more highly.
