The museum's own garden bar, next to the amphitheatre

This cafe is built into the Cultural & Museum Centre's own grounds, listed simply as the Mbande Garden restaurant and bar. It sits next to the amphitheatre where the annual Karonga-Chitipa cultural festival stages performances.

There's no separate storefront, so it runs on the museum's hours: Monday to Saturday from half past eight and Sunday afternoons only. Locals use it as a shaded stop between the dinosaur hall and the amphitheatre.

Good to know

• Come straight after a museum tour rather than as a separate trip, it's inside the same gate.
