Gugar is a hybrid space on the quieter upper stretch of Republic Street that runs as a coffee spot by day and a bar with a creative bent by night. It leans arty, with events and a rotating crowd.
The drinks cover coffee, natural wine and cocktails depending on the hour, with light food alongside. It is a looser, more independent room than the polished restaurants downhill.

Friendly, relaxed, no blasting cheese music, good beer selection, a perfect antidote to the teen-focused party bars that seem to be competing for who can play the worst music the loudest that plague many of Valetta's streets.

The perfect antidote to Valletta's commercial side, and vegan friendly. Zero pretense, just a brilliant, relaxed atmosphere with reggae playing in the background. The food is absolutely fantastic, and the staff are incredibly warm and genuine. If you want a truly authentic, laid-back hangout where you can just breathe, this is the spot.
