A stone-vaulted wine bar at the foot of Strait Street

Trabuxu is a wine bar set in 400-year-old vaults at the lower end of Strait Street, one of the venues credited with reviving the street as a place to drink. The name is the Maltese word for a corkscrew.

The list runs to Maltese and Italian bottles, poured alongside cheese and cured-meat boards and a short plate menu. It also runs a separate wine shop and bistro nearby, but the original cellar bar is the one people mean when they say Trabuxu.

We had dinner here tonight and really enjoyed our visit. The food was very good, the atmosphere was lovely, and we had a great evening. What truly stood out was the service. Rosa made our experience so special with her warm, friendly, and attentive attitude. She made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and genuinely brightened our evening. Such a lovely restaurant with friendly staff and delicious food. Stumbled upon it by chance and took my family twice during their visit in Malta because everyone enjoyed it so much. Definitely my new favourite restaurant. Another bonus is their wine bar around the corner with beautiful wines and very knowledgeable staff. 10/10 perfect

Definitely one of my favourite restaurants in Valletta. They kindly let us order food 15 minutes before the kitchen closed. The waiters were so sweet and welcoming, and they definitely added to the warm atmosphere of the restaurant. The pasta was very tasty and flavourful. Will be coming back here in the future for sure💕

Lovely atmosphere and a perfect spot for a date night. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The Vitello al Limone was absolutely amazing. We also tried the homemade cappelletti, but it wasn’t really to our taste, as the flavors of the capers and fennel were a bit too dominant for us. The bread was delicious as well. Overall, it was a lovely dining experience from start to finish.

Hands down the BEST pasta I’ve ever had. The atmosphere, wine and service is amazing. We came back here twice to show family. So so glad to have stumbled across this. Well done guys!
