Bespoke belts cut to size from Italian full-grain leather

Leather is something you smell before you buy, and a bespoke belt is something you try on. That's the pitch behind this self-taught leatherworker's shop at 68 St Mark Street, near the lower end of Valletta.

Everything's made in Malta from full-grain Italian leather: belts, bags, wallets, card holders. A good chunk of the work is bespoke, cut and sized for you on the spot. Monocle flagged it as worth the detour, and a second atelier has since opened in Rabat, but St Mark Street is the original room.

Bespoke belts are sized in the shop, go in person rather than ordering online.
Valletta hours break for lunch (13:00–13:30); the Rabat atelier keeps different times.

Yesterday we did an amazing workshop with the owner of the store. He made sure we could do a workshop in Valletta even tho it is normally in their shop in Rabat. Also the workshop itself was so cool, he explained everything very well and guided us through every step! He was very friendly and I would recommend this amazing experience with a glass of wine to everyone! We had an amazing afternoon with a beautiful selfmade wallet at the end! 5 ⭐️ experience!

Captain’s Cut Leather is by far the premier leather shop in Malta. Their service was amazing and Robb, in their Rabat office, took 30 minutes out of his day to help us customize an incredibly made purse to our exact specifications. Their Valetta office is charming and the two attendants took incredible care of us and gave us custom monogram for our business. Their quality is impeccable, the purse was beautiful, and we were even able to see how the leather is treated and the various items are made in their Rabat workshop. I could not recommend them enough!
