Diamonds now sit behind Valletta's old grocery glass

Walk into Timeless Treasures and the shopfront still says Wembley Store, the corner shop that sold food and drink on Republic Street for 101 years. The Gauci family closed it in 2025 on one condition: no more food business.

What replaced it is a jeweller working in Maltese and Turkish craftsmanship, and the switch is the whole story. Diamond cases now sit behind the same glass that once held groceries, three floors deep into a building locals still call by its old name.

Good to know

• The building is worth a look on its own, the corner site is a Valletta landmark.
• Bespoke and custom commissions are done in house.
