Shlomo reopened in a new Grand Bay location in December 2024, calling itself Mauritius's first fully plant-based coffee shop. Vegan shawarma wraps, specialty coffee, and a relaxed room full of plants pull in both the island's small vegan community and plenty of first-timers just curious.

Reviewers keep naming it the best vegan or vegetarian kitchen on this stretch of coast. The kitchen stays small on purpose: homemade sauces, no plans to scale up.

We found this place completely by chance, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip! The people were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We tried the crispy strips burger and the shawarma—both were absolutely delicious. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we came back the very next day. Highly recommended if you’re looking for great vegan food and hospitality!

Such a heaven for vegetarians and vegans. We tried BBQ kelbone, wraps, shwarma bowl and it was so freshly made and tasted very yummy! A must recommended place for sure

By far the best food that I had in Grand Baie!! I got the falafel wrap with fries and savored every bite. I will definitely be back to try more items on the menu. I’m vegan and I love that there are a variety of options to choose from.

Such a great place - if you’re vegan in Mauritius it’s worth the drive! The chefs/hosts are so brilliant, they were great at helping to entertain our kids, service was fast, and were super accommodating. Can’t recommend more!

I’ve had the chance to eat vegan in France and England, but Shlomo is definitely the restaurant where I’ve had my best vegan meals. Every dish was flavourful, creative, and beautifully prepared. Even the meat-eater friends I brought there had a blast and were genuinely impressed. Highly recommended.
