The Strand's teak bar, back after years shut
Kipling and Orson Welles both drank here, and the teak panelling survived The Strand's long renovation intact. Sarkies Bar takes its name from the brothers who also built Raffles in Singapore, and the room still feels like their era.
Weekday Social Hour runs 5 to 7pm, buy one martini and get the second free. House-made liquors and the occasional live jazz set fill the rest of the night.

Exceptional service! Good promotional items and events. Definitely the most classy bar for me to chill in Yangon. The building and interior says it all! Was very lucky to catch the soft re-opening of the bar after the hotel had been closed for a few years. Love the colonial vibes and the handsome interior. The staff were very friendly too. Unfortunately, they ran out of their signature Strand Sour, so I didn't get to try it. Perfect excuse to come back again.
