The island's only proper nightclub, inside the Menen Hotel

Nauru has four bars in total, and Reef Bar is the one that actually gets busy on a Friday. It sits at the back of the Menen Hotel in Meneng, next to a small casino room with a handful of pokies and a pool table that's rarely free.

Expats, aid workers and government staff make up most of the crowd, with the occasional traveler finding their way in. It's a small room, not fancy. The pokies in the back see more traffic most nights than anyone dancing.

Good to know

• Weekends are busiest, especially after dinner service ends next door.
• The pool table gets booked up fast.
