Six pastas, six pizzas, kept deliberately small

Six pastas. About as many pizzas. A handful of meat and fish dishes. That's the whole menu at Amici, kept small on purpose.

Sabina Baire runs it with her son-in-law Lars van Dijk, eight years after taking over her father's Pizzeria Italia on the same corner of Lage der A and Astraat. The dining room sits inside one of the street's more striking historic buildings, open daily from 11am to 10pm.

Best negroni in Groningen (from what I’ve tried so far). Friendly staff, good atmosphere, good food. A little improvement on acoustics or equalizing the sound/music inside would make it even more pleasant.

Even though it was very warm outside we had a good experience on the terrace. We had a reservation for inside but unfortunately there was no Air-condition. Luckily the staff made us table outside and we could enjoy the evening with delicious pizza and great tiramisu.

Very polite service and delicious food! For a borrel the antipasti is a great choice and for dinner there is a rich choice in dishes. Delicious wine options as well, and the pasta in the wheel is also an experience. Would definitely recommend!

The place is really beautiful! The service was also very nice and friendly. We ordered the tagliere with 8 ingredients for a group of 7, and it was more than enough, great to share and really tasty. I had the carbonara, which was a bit bland. It felt like the pasta water wasn’t salted enough, and it was missing that signature richness from the pecorino and especially the pepper, which is usually quite prominent in a carbonara. That said, the pasta was perfectly al dente, which I really appreciated. I also tried the Gricia from a colleague, and that one was really nice! And the Pornstar Martini? Easy 5 stars! For dessert I can recommend the Merengue all’italiana! (I think you write it like this) Overall, a lovely place with great vibes and friendly service, just a small miss on the carbonara for me. I would come back!

One of the best places for an authentic Italian dinner in Groningen! We were there 3 times over 2 weeks, pizza, pasta, antipasto, deserts and wine all excellent! Can’t recommend enough!
