A wine merchant back behind the counter, on his own terms

Jurjen Smeenk ran a wine shop in Groningen for ten years before it closed in 2023. He's back on the Turfsingel, supplying restaurants across the city during the week and selling to anyone who books an appointment.

Friday afternoons work differently. The door just stands open from noon until quarter to six, shop-style. Italy is the part of the list he cares about most, and his claim about the rest is short: everything on the shelf has been tasted.
