Five cacao-themed rooms above Maastricht's chocolate café

Sleep above a chocolate shop and let the theme go all the way. Jorrit Consten and Laura Janssen turned the floors above their café DARQ into Maastricht's first chocolate hotel, five rooms and an apartment, each built around a different kind of cacao. The White Chocolate Room does exactly what it says.

The Mestreechter Geis, the city's own bronze mascot, showed up for the opening night. The duo later added a third address next door, the ice cream parlour Qrème.

This atmospheric hotel, located in the old part of town, has only a few rooms, but they are very cozy. The only minor drawback is the very narrow and steep stairs to the first floor, which may be a problem for older people with leg problems.

Fantastic location in the center of Maastricht. The breakfast was more than sufficient and well worth it. The price (during Rieu performances) was steep, though.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay at the Boutique Hotel DARQ. The rooms were clean and nicely furnished, and the service was consistently friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed the charming café right downstairs – perfect for a relaxing start to the day. The only downside was the noise. The hotel is very poorly soundproofed, and there's a bar right next door. During our stay, there were many stag and hen parties and group outings, which made it quite noisy at night. As a result, we unfortunately didn't sleep very well, and our stay was less restful than we had hoped.

A wonderful, clean, central, and beautiful hotel with super friendly and helpful staff. We slept wonderfully on the comfortable beds in the room and in the morning enjoyed the surprising and delicious breakfast with the friendliest service from the staff! Thank you Team Darq for this lovely experience!

We went to Maastricht for 2 days with one night and stayed at the Boutique Hotel. Truly a top location close to everything, beautiful hotel room “Milk” with an amazing view, breakfast was super, everything was included. And we also had a very fun and interesting chocolate workshop. Thanks to Jorrit, who made this afternoon with the workshop possible especially for us. We wish you the best of luck with all your wonderful future plans. All in all, it is highly recommended! Thank you Jorrit & team Darq.
