Peranakan and Malaysian cooking in the village of Amby
The owners reckon this is the only Peranakan restaurant in Limburg. That alone is worth the ride out to Amby, the old village on the northeast edge of Maastricht, where the kitchen mixes Chinese technique with Malay spice.
The name comes from nasi lemak, rice cooked in coconut milk with pandan, the dish most Malaysians call home. Amby sits fifteen minutes from the centre, well past the tourist streets, which is exactly why this feels like a neighbourhood find.

Great atmosphere, with lovely courtyard and indoor seating. everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable. I have seafood allergies and as a walk in they managed to adjust the dishes so I could eat everything including the sambal. The food was great and authentic nasi lemak with rendeng. We shared had the chendor and gula makala dessert which were the perfect finisher.

It's a very good place to dine & chill. Being an Asian myself, it's usually very difficult for me to get a real authentic Asian food in NL. Found this place when I was visiting my friends in Maastricht. Out of 3 nights in Maastricht, we dined 2 times. Having the best dinner while my stay in Maastricht Highly recommended & I will be back again & no doubt about that.

Was in town visiting a friend and dropped by for dinner the first day, and came right back for lunch the next! Delicious, authentic food and even was treated to the launch of their home made cendol. One very happy Malaysian :))

We went to Maastricht Lemak for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and were welcomed by the staff with great enthusiasm. The restaurant is beautiful and nicely decorated with items that remind you of Malaysia & Singapore by the owner. As a fellow Malaysian, I can confirm that their food is authentic and delicious. It was a great lunch that reminded me of home. Overall, highly recommended! Slight note to add, some dishes might not have the same spicy level as what you’ve experienced in Asia but the essential taste & aroma of the food were kept. 👍
