Tapas with a Japanese detour at Kijkduin

Gambas al ajillo sit next to salmon tacos and beef tataki, which is the fusion the name promises. A wine bar is attached, running its own wine and tapas tastings.

On Sundays between six and seven, oysters go for 1.50 each with a glass of bubbles alongside. Tapas boxes and bottles travel home too.

The biggest disappointment I had on my birthday is this place. The attitude was ruined by the attitude of the waiter and the fact that they didn’t have (as they said) any oysters, while they eventually had them for the other tables. At some point another waitress came and proposed 2 oysters for us, oh thank you very much, I wanted to have at least 6… instead of spending there the whole evening and several hundreds euro we just went away after main course to another place. I don’t understand, why there were no information that we have to order or reserve oysters beforehand (otherwise I don’t know why other tables had them). Other food was okay but I didn’t get from the menu that it’s a very small portions for unreasonable price. It’s also a shame they don’t have sweet wine. I regret I booked table there for the most important day of my year. Don’t recommend this place.

The food was absolutely amazing. Fantastic flavors and superb presentation. Although it was almost empty, everything took a very long time. The staff seemed more focused on themselves and the bar than on the guests. There's definitely room for improvement there. But every single course made up for it in terms of taste.

We had a wonderful dinner here. The restaurant is very beautiful and has a luxurious ambiance. The dishes, served as shared dining, are truly delicious and the service is also very good. It was nice that the cocktails were €7.50 as a special offer, which encouraged you to order earlier. Highly recommended!
