A compact Snøhetta-designed coffee bar

Élan opened on Kirkegata in mid-2026, a compact coffee café designed by the architecture studio Snøhetta. The menu covers espresso, V60, cortado and matcha in a tightly designed space.

The room includes a made-to-order sound installation by composer Jonas von der Fehr, part of the studio's attempt to make the café an experience as much as a coffee stop.

I LOVE this place, the vibe is immaculate. Coffee is GREAT, staff is fantastic. I got a champagne ice tea which they only originally serve warm but the barista said she could pull it off to make it iced for me ❤️ I only wish there was more options for seating and to do office work there. But overall, BEAUTIFUL.

location is beautiful and staff was super friendly, the coffee was okay - for instance, my flat white was too milky and foamy (cappuccino vibes), couldn’t barely feel the coffee taste.

I bumped into this cafe by chance and was pleasantly surprised. I absolutely loved the interior design, and the coffee itself was fantastic. The staff were also incredibly kind. Thank you for such a lovely experience!
