Koie Ramen: clear, inviting restaurant interior shot

Koie Ramen

★ 4.5 · 2,871 reviews Oslo Opened Opening date unknown

Tight menu of proper ramen, no reservations

Koie Ramen keeps a short menu of carefully built bowls and does not take reservations, which means a queue at peak times. The original Oslo shop sits near Hausmania, with further locations at Munch Brygge and on Grünerløkka.

The kitchen leans authentic rather than fusion, and turnover is quick. It has grown into a small group across Oslo, Trondheim and Gothenburg.

Good to know

  • No bookings; come early or off-peak to skip the queue.

Nice ramen! Definitely recommend, we went on Sunday evening and didn’t have to queue up. The service was nice and fast. Ramen was good. Definitely recommended!

We got stranded in Oslo for a day after our connecting flight got cancelled and this meal was so restorative that it deserves five stars. We had the tonkotsu ramen and shoyu ramen and both were as good as anything we’ve eaten in Japan. Also ordered karage, edamame, kirin beer and yuzu slushie. Also a child-friendly restaurant; staff provided high chairs and were happy to let our little one run around. Including drinks it was about 1000kr which was pretty good value considering what we had ordered. Would happily come back here again.

A cancelled flight gave us an unexpected night in Oslo. Koie Ramen almost made the whole ordeal worth it. The quality of the food was excellent. We had shoyu ramen and tonkotsu, with edamame and karrage. With Kirin beer and a yuzu slushy. No regrets. Authentic flavors, good quality, and appropriate portions. The staff were fantastic. Quick and friendly service, and they found a child seat for our littlest fellow traveller. The little one roamed around a bit and the servers chatted with them and were very accommodating. The price was also lower than expected for this kind of food in Oslo. I would recommend this place without a doubt to anyone visiting Oslo.

WOW! That’s all I can say after a meal at this restaurant! It is easy to find, standing out as there is a long queue. There are surprisingly big portions, and they did not disappoint me at all!!! I ordered a Shoyu, a bowl of noodles accompanied by an aromatic dark sauce. My granny ordered the same, and she too agreed that it was authenticity delicious! My mother ordered a vegetarian dish. “ I think it is… sorta normal,” She commented. My opinion was that the soup was flavourful! My father ordered tonkotsu. He thought that it was quite tasty, the ramen sided with a rich- flavoured broth. My little sister had a Shio. Swallowing her saliva after eating, she stated that it was utterly commendable ! Her soup was clear and wafting with aroma. This is a truly unique and delicious experience , the staff warm and welcoming. I really recommend it here in Oslo!!! It is an outstanding gem!!! ( also, do not get set back by the time waiting. U can’t miss!)

I wanted to try ramen in Oslo and decided to visit Koie Ramen. I ordered the chicken karaage and tonkotsu ramen. The tonkotsu ramen was delicious, not the best I’ve ever had but definitely really good. The chicken karaage came out fresh as it was sizzling hot. I very much loved the chicken karaage and I would say it’s one of the best I’ve ever had. The breading was crunchy and flavorful while the meat inside was juicy. The two dishes cost 405 NOK ($44 USD) which is a little bit on the expensive side for an appetizer and entree. However, I do appreciate the freshness of the food. I would definitely visit again!
