A long-running French kitchen, reopened in Bjørvika
Cru spent 17 years on the west side before relocating to Bjørvika in May 2025, resetting as a French kitchen built on Norwegian produce with a substantial wine programme. Critics rated the move highly.
It now reads as a neighbourhood fine-dining room on the waterfront, dinner only. Coordinates here are approximate to Bjørvika pending a confirmed street number.

An all-round wonderful dining experience! Cru Wine & French Food impresses with a marvellous combination of French culinary artistry and high-quality regional ingredients. Every dish was perfectly balanced in flavour and lovingly presented. I was particularly impressed by the excellent wine selection, for which the waiting staff offered expert recommendations. The atmosphere is also stylish yet pleasantly relaxed – perfect for a special evening. The service was attentive, friendly and professional, without being intrusive. Anyone in Oslo looking for fine dining and excellent wine pairings should definitely visit this restaurant. Highly recommended!

After being received and taken care of by Manisha, we could not have had a greater time at Cru. Friendly, cozy, with a touch of serious professionalism it felt. Quality place where you can relax and just admirably knot your head yes to everything that is being said. Isaac, a great Sommelier, came with the suggestion to upgrade our already amazing course menu! Zero regrets. Highly recommend! Thank you again, can’t wait to go back!

Came here as a group of four. Had the Pelle Janzon (which I loved) and a grilled veal that was delicious, however, at the price point I would have expected more. It was served with a mousse or foam that basically had become a sauce when served. Highlight was the service. A very knowledgeable sommelier and a very good wine and grappa selection. He gave us tips on what to have with the food, at the price point that we wanted. All in all a very good experience and if you love wine (not only to drink, but also to learn) I think this is one of the spots in Oslo I that has stood out for me.

I often eat solo when I travel. Many restaurants can make you feel uncomfortable. Quite the opposite at Cru. Everyone from front of house to wait people to the chefs were warm and welcoming. I was assigned a table but opted instead to sit at the bar where I could watch the chefs in the open kitchen. It was a fun show! The chefs are very professional and produced amazing looking food. I had the French toast, pigeon, a green salad and the apple desert. Everything was magnificent. The French toast starter was a delightful combination of toast, black garlic, cream cheese, ham and a topping of grated cheese. The pigeon was cooked to perfection and the confit legs were offered in a separate plate . Fall off the bone excellence. The rioja paired beautifully with the pigeon. The salad was a great accompaniment. I don’t often eat desert but this was worth breaking tradition. Not an inexpensive meal but a memorable one.

On our first visit to Oslo, we stumbled upon CRU in the Barcode section of the Bjørvika neighborhood. Without a reservation, we were seated after a short wait in the dining room with high ceilings, soft green and grey tones, and a view to let us peek into the open kitchen. The CRU menu puts a tasty spin on French classics, using local Norwegian ingredients to create memorable dishes. We started with French Toast - Pata Negra (Ibérico ham), cheese cream, black garlic and balsamic. Our main entrees were Atlantic salmon from Namsen - Broccolini, spring onion and mole blanco, and Wild Turbot - Chanterelles, spinach, sherry vinegar and wild garlic butter sauce. For dessert we chose the Strawberries - Pandanus cream, Tasmanian mountain pepper meringue and strawberry sorbet, and the Chocolate Mousse - Hazelnut, whiskey caramel and hazelnut ice cream. The food and wine at CRU are the real gems of this restaurant. While proper, the service was a bit slower and less friendly than we expected. However, we would certainly come back for another taste.
