Heidi Bjerkan's Trondheim kitchen, reborn at the National Library

Heidi Bjerkan closed Credo in Trondheim, moved to Oslo to run the café and canteen at the National Library, and reopened the full restaurant there in autumn 2025. Michelin treats the food as a cultural argument rather than a menu, which is roughly how Bjerkan talks about it herself.

Solli plass is an odd address for a destination restaurant, wedged between office blocks near the Frogner tram stop. The dining room is small and the tasting menu runs long, so book well ahead.

Fantastic restaurant! Definitely worth a visit. Different, but fun and warm welcome. And Heidi and her staff appear so professional, so genuine, so nice and so dedicated and unassuming that the experience is absolutely top notch. The menu and food are consistently absolutely delicious and many of the dishes are truly memorable. Credo in Trondheim was probably a bigger surprise and an even bigger happening, but this was really good.

I have this tendency to set expectations fairly high for resturants where reservations are hard to get, which sometimes leaves me feeling a little disappointed. BUT my dining experience at Credo truly did live up to all my expectations. From the moment you enter the place, you're greeted by staff with a very welcoming smile. We were given a little tour of this beautiful building, where fun facts, history, and a welcome snack was given. Really gives you a moment to soak it all up and appreciate culture and people. Then the dining experience starts. You're shown your table where snacks are already lined up for admiration. The small bites keeps coming and they're all so delicious. The dining space feels intimate, especially with the kitchen right there. Enjoyed every dish and drink pairing, but the most unforgettable bite of the evening was sjøkrepsen. It was so tasty that every cell in my body actually smiled. Evening ended with a variety of sweets. Could not recommend this dining experience enough. Also very excited to see the other concepts come to reality in the same building. Thank you Credo Team :)

An amazing and creative dining with 25 different dishes (too much). My favourites are the first and last. We rated all the dishes on a scale from 1 ro 10 and average ended on 5, and thats fair from our pov.

We have eaten at many great restaurants, but this one reserves a special note. They created a gluten, egg and lactose free menu for me with one day notice. And it tasted unbelievably good! I wish I could have the recipes! It was out of this world! The wine pairing let’s you discover so many new wines from around the globe. The members of staff went out of their way with such natural charm, it was incredible to experience it all. You can watch the work of the kitchen from your table and it makes you feel like you are part of a theatre play. Every scene, every move was timed to perfection with great harmony. The art that surrounded us added to the uniqueness of this space.
