Seasonal Nordic cooking in Grünerløkka's oldest farmhouse
Nedre Foss Gård occupies a manor house above the Akerselva waterfall on the edge of Grünerløkka, one of the oldest buildings in the district. The kitchen works seasonally with Norwegian produce and keeps an eye on sustainable sourcing.
The draw in warm months is the garden, a large terrace that fills as soon as the weather turns. Inside, the rooms are set across the old farmhouse, which also takes private parties.

Fantastic fine dining experience. Had the 4 course menu with a delicious wine pairing. Michelin quality without the pretense.

Delicious food and hidden gem in Grunerløkka area with green surrounding. Fresh ingredients with local taste. The place is quite spacious and has lively outdoor area in the summertime. Definitely will comeback here.

Nedre Foss Gård is a gem by the Akerselva—elegant, iconic, and effortlessly cool. The interior blends classic charm with modern warmth: ornate ceilings, soft lighting, wooden details, and lush greenery create a cozy yet refined vibe. It’s fine dining without the fuss—no dress code, no pretension. Service is warm, professional, and the food? Absolutely delicious. Creative, seasonal, and beautifully plated. A must-visit spot where style meets substance.

During my recent trip to Oslo, I happened upon this establishment while searching for local shops. I was thoroughly impressed by the ambiance, the high quality of the cuisine, and the reasonable prices, especially considering the excellent service. Our server, Mattias (I apologize if the spelling is incorrect), provided knowledgeable descriptions of the dishes and was attentive throughout our meal. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Oslo who is looking for a memorable dining experience.
