La Tapada

Old Lima desserts you've probably never tasted
Ranfañote, guargüeros, tocino del cielo, ponderaciones. These are the desserts your limeño grandparents grew up on, and most young locals have never heard of them. La Tapada, a minute from the Plaza Mayor, is bringing them back.
The tapada sculptures outside stop tourists mid-stroll. It's the first of three spots the same group opened along this passage, turning it into a small food street.

Prices were great compared to tourist areas in Cusco, etc. service was friendly and there were a lot of servers around but it wasn’t terribly busy. Located in a really pretty area

It was a nice experience. Dishes you don't see anywhere and other dishes you see everywhere, all of them a bit costly, I suppose due to the location. The sweets were prepared to please the average Limean: they had a lot of sugar (for some it might be too much). There was a small showcase of historical dances, it was a nice gesture but nothing grand.

An absolute standout experience. The pisco sour was perfectly balanced bright, fresh, and silky smooth, with just the right kick. You can tell it was crafted with care. And the suspiro limeño… simply unforgettable. Rich, creamy, and indulgent without being overly sweet the kind of dessert you keep thinking about long after you leave. On top of that, Dandhara was our waitress and her attention was incredible, warm, attentive, and genuinely made the whole experience even better. If you’re looking for authentic flavors done exceptionally well, this place absolutely delivers.
