The old Hotel de Turistas bar, still pouring on Plaza de Armas

Marqués Bar sits in the corner of what used to be Piura's Hotel de Turistas, now the Los Portales Hotel, right on the Plaza de Armas. Order the algarrobina, a syrupy carob-pod liqueur you'll find more in Peru's north than anywhere else.

This isn't a spot people discover once and post about. It's the bar regulars keep coming back to. Doors open at 5pm most days, later on weekends.

After visiting the hot and sunny Tambogrande, on our way back to Piura we decided to visit Bar Marqués; located right on the city's main square. Since we were in Piura, we had to try the algarrobina cocktail and other drinks, and we paired them with dessert and ice cream...they were delicious! The service was excellent and attentive, and the atmosphere was very welcoming. We were delighted...a must-visit spot on your trip to beautiful Piura.
